Homes from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Florida celebrated in style Monday morning as they sent off their elders and chosen Stakeholders on three big buses! In Westmoreland, TN, Patsy Naumann, the Dietary Manager from our Westmoreland home arrived at work at 2:00 a.m. in order to prepare a full breakfast for the homes leaving from there. She said she wanted to make sure the elders have a good send off and a wonderful time. Elders in Florida arrived at Surrey for a noon meal prepared by the caring staff there after being sent off from Chipley with breakfast earlier that morning. Stakeholders from our Pigeon Forge home prepared a full luau experience for over 75 elders and Stakeholders when they stopped in for an afternoon break!
When the buses loaded with our most precious cargo arrived in Myrtle Beach, they were greeted with lei’s around their necks, fresh baked cookies, and rooms full of souvenirs purchased for the elders.
Many elders have not experienced the beach and some have never even seen the ocean. Their faces shone as they departed the buses and stopped for quick photos with old friends and the excitement of making new ones around the corner!
Today’s itenirary includes but not is not limited to a luncheon cruise down the river and an evening out at a local favorite, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville.
If the old saying is true that life is truly about the journey and not the destination then our elders are in for “the journey of a lifetimeâ€!
