We set sail this morning on the Barefoot Princess Cruise and spent a joyous afternoon boating down the river. The elders enjoyed the relaxation the cruise offered and the opportunity to loosen up and have some fun soon followed! Before I knew it, the elders were on the dance floor having a blast. It was so much fun to see them dancing and meeting new people.
After the cruise many took to the beach! Many of our elders haven’t had the opportunity to visit the ocean and they were overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of it. While some enjoyed the ocean, one home decided they wanted to do a helicopter ride over the beach! Rockcastle Health and Rehab elders spotted a brochure for a helicopter ride at the resort and jumped on the opportunity to pursue it!
Everyone came back together this evening to have dinner at Margaritaville. The elders and Stakeholders alike loved the relaxed atmosphere as well as the food. After a great dinner, they enjoyed an evening of shopping at Broadway at the Beach.
As the day comes to a close, I can’t help but think about something one of the elders said today to her daughter. She said that she was “living in the lap of luxury and having the trip of a lifetime.†I am so blessed to play a small role in giving just one person the trip of a lifetime but when I get to help give this experience to 46 elders, I become overwhelmed with emotion once more. I can’t believe I get to work for a company that encourages me to pursue my dream to make their dreams a reality! We are truly revolutionizing long term care every single time we grant a dream or make a wish take place in the lives of our elders. We all have that ability within us, we just have to reach down and pull it out.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s update which will include the biggest beach party on the block and some other surprises as well!
